The Toy With The Thorn In His Side
I’ve been a part of the "toy community" since 1996 when I founded the Star Wars Collector Union, which became TradeFederation.net. I had written more to go here, but it’s all secondary to the focus of my writing. While it’s not currently in my hands, and I suppose the world could end before I lay hands on it, I am now an action figure, which is pretty high up on my life’s to-do list.
Last year when I was buying the Ultimate Battle Packs from Hoth and Endor, I knew I’d keep a couple. I’d give a couple as gifts. The rest went to my favorite charity. Of course I knew that every purchase with my Target "Red Card" would enter me in a contest, but I’m pretty doffed when it comes to things I might have won in my lifetime. (I guess I should be happy to be a loser.) You can read the old posts here and here, but needless to say "winner" is one of the last things people who know me would use to describe me. (For the record, I’m also apparently not a "caring nurturer", whatever that is, but I have to state that.)
OK, so… here’s the end result:
I know it’s a one-off thing, and I’ve actually read posts saying it should be immortalized as a mass release figure. I’m just happy with the way things turned out. (If I had my way, I’d give each and every one of you one of the figures to make your collections’ complete.) So there I am… and you don’t need to look so pleased! (Another Morrissey reference, if you’ll please forgive me.)
What you see is what you get, and what you get may well be worth seeing. (Him again.)
P.S. I’m completely awestruck, so forgive any typo problems or mixed-up links.

Too freakin’ cool! I have to admit, I was nervous to see if they’d manage to pull off your hair in figure form, but that sculpt looks great. You’re clearly a very happy man right now, and it’s well deserved. Winner or not, it sounds like at the very least you’re being well rewarded for your charitable deeds. Now to elevate you to ICMG status so we can all have your mug on a figure within a few years, lol.

Sorry, but unless you’re on film (well, filmed by Lucas) it’s hard candy for you (er… me). But the Big H knows that I’ll stand in for any troop, commander, or rebel who needs assistance.

Well done, Adam! Very well done, indeed!
You deserve to be immortalized in plastic. I saltute you, Sir!

Seriously, that’s awesome. They did a fantastic job with the sculpt. I can’t wait to see the painted version.
Hey Hasbro, couldn’t you just make a few more of these…

Maybe I missed it but will your figure a) have a name other than your own (or other than only your own…will you be a Darth or something…and b) will it be carded? If so, which card style? Did you get to choose? And have you actually asked if there is any chance you could get several dozen extra while they are at it, you know, to auction off for charity and/or put in prize-backs for those who take the time to comment on your blogs???

Wow. I can hardly believe how good that head sculpt looks. It is spot-on! It is indeed a bummer that we won’t all be able to get one of these figures…

sinkie, I don’t quite know all the details yet. Hasbro just wanted to show us the sculpt, and I’m sure they’ll send photos as things progress. (I believe it’s being painted now if not very, very soon.) Yes, it will be carded, but I’m not sure which cardback they’ll use. I do know what body it will be on (and I think I posted about that earlier). Ummm… it’s going on a Darth Nihilus body, but that doesn’t mean that I’m a Sith. (Maybe a Dark or Lost Jedi?) Basically I picked that because it reminds me of a gauzy Commes des Garçons shirt that I really like. (Hey, if nothing else, that’s a good reminder to go on a diet and get to the gym.)
Oh yeah, and for the record there will be no real blog today because I’m stuck on my couch with a nasty cold.

jonny5 is alive? (Your son still hasn’t made his one free bail call, so I guess he’s doing OK?) I’m literally on the verge of DEATH right now. Fiery gusts of phlegm are ripping out of my lungs. THIS is what I get for having a flu shot. The one year I ever get duped into that scam, and I get the plague. Never trust people who aren’t afraid of needles. They’re either doctors, junkies, or both!
