All of the rumours keeping me grounded…

OK, so last week I was feeling probably a little over-confident after my tour of LucasFilm, and I stated:

"Big Death Star playset. More than one even. The hope is that parts included in upcoming toys and Battle Packs would allow us collecting types to modify our sets even more to have things as we’d like them (a bit). That, however, is a no-brainer, and I didn’t wake up early to be that obvious. Expect Phase 1 at "holiday" time here in the states. (You didn’t think they’d reveal those Ultimate Battle Packs without having something bigger and better, did you?)"

After consulting with Hasbro more directly and more closely, I have to say that I no longer believe that Hasbro will be releasing such an item this year. (Never say never, as Hasbro has often said that nothing is off the table.) So I’m going to load up my plate with humble pie. I misinterpreted a lot of information from sources, and the end result is that I am wrong (at least at this time). Maybe sometime in the future, who knows?

While I’m bursting bubbles, although I never ran with this one, the rumors about a Star Destroyer, Super Star Destroyer, Acclamator, or any other type of large triangular ship are not true at this time or the foreseeable future. (The good news is that one of the team is very vocal and passionate about making one.) Don’t lose faith.

Finally, today should have been Friday Give-Away Day, but the loot that I’ve been waiting on from Comic Con has yet to arrive. So I’ll try to dig up EXTRA goodies for next week’s randomly selected winners. (And, yes, I know I have to give you lot the full rules and regulations for the Show Us Your BMF contest. Who knew there’s so much involved in writing simple contest rules?)

heh, everybody can be wrong from time to time. On a long enough time frame, I’m sure you’d be 100 % accurate though. =)
As for all our favorite large triangular shaped capital ships, the scale somewhat bothers me. Hasbro’s line isn’t LEGO where you can just lift off the top and put some figures in the main hull of a Star Destroyer. I have very fond memories of Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer Playset from Kenner, but that’s all it was - a meditation/bridge playset roughly in the shape of a wedge. I’d love to see Hasbro try it, but I also dread to see what they’d come up with to solve the obvious problems with these ships.
I’d rather see ( but that’s personal taste) 3 3/4 scale versions of the Rebel Blockade Runner or the Consular Class Space cruiser from TPM. These would  fall somewhere between the old Kenner Rebel Transport (awesome ship still!!) and the Queen’s Royal Starship and I can definitely see them having an openable mid section to put figures. They’d also make awesome ships, and would be closer to scale with the figures than ANY attempt at a Star Destryer or SSD would be. What’s your opinon on these, Adam?

I like all ships. I obviously skew to the Holy (Original) Trilogy, but there were great pieces in the Prequel Trilogy. Kids, who are the major market, they skew to the prequel trilogy, and we’ll have to see where that leads. The bull-nosed MTT would be cool, and almost any of the Prequel Trilogy ships are great, but the word "BIG" in my spy’s comments make me hope for a great Phantom Menace ship or two. (Personally, I believe that they’ll simply spruce up the Queen’s Royal Starship and give use a couple of Podracer ships.) Only time will tell. 2009 will be an interesting year with an anniversary an active segment of animation. All said, I have tremendous faith in Hasbro to deliver some great toys. (What else would you expect from me?)

I know the economic of it all say to recolor and rerelease previous ships, but I’d really love to have something new.  I know it’s all about the Clone Wars right now, but I also think it’s time for some new Original Trilogy ships.  Death Star would have been cool, not too sure about the Imperal Star Destroyers due to their size.

In reality, a modern recreation of the vintage Kenner Star Destroyer would look silly. We already have "playsets", (environmental pieces), of the meditation chamber and the Holographic transmition between Palpatine and Vader. It would be fantastic to get a "Technical Command Pit" portion of the bridge to display Imperial Officers and the Bounty Hunters. This would also fit the final scene of ROTS with Vader, Tarkin and Sidious.
Your blogs are very informative and entertaining. They give the entire Star Wars line a sense of hope. Not one of us is perfect and I am proud to admit that I make mistakes daily. All that really matters are the countless contributions you have made over the years. If anything reading your blogs gives both us and Hasbro insight into the future of Star Wars collecting. Thanks for being the voice that Hasbro actually listens to, Adam!
