Save me! Save me! Save me! Save me! Save me!
I believe it’s time for my annual plea to Hasbro to release a proper OOM-9. Having seen The Clone Wars, I’m happy to have a Commander Droid in the manner that was released in the Star Wars Idol series or whatever last year, but just for the record, we still do not have an accurate OOM-9. He has NO BACKPACK. He only has antennae on his back. He has the yellow detail (and there’s one in Attack of the Clones that is the burnt red with yellow markings, same specs). He should ultimately have a blaster, his binoculars, and just as interest due (since he never got released in the Trophy Assortment) he should have a mini hologram of Nute Gunray and Rune Haako. No less. (Articulation would be nice, too, as would some blast points!)
It’s a shame to have to have a custom sitting in the power position of my Trade Federation Tank (circa The Phantom Menace). I don’t even have one for my Geonosis Arena or to command my newer CIS Tanks, but I have faith in Hasbro. They’ll do right by OOM-9 soon (surely soon than they’ll release that Holographic Nute Gunray from the Power of the Jedi era, which, might I add, is a shame).
I’m still trying to shake down a list of "greenlighted" prequel figures (which is hard to do considering the we don’t know who’s "real" and who’s "cartoon" just yet)! I just thought today would be a nice day to nag for one of my favorite droids. (They finally released the Droideka with blaster points after all my years of nagging. Don’t blame me for the shield, though.) Some of the older readers (not you young whippersnappers) know that I was literally nagging on the floor for that Droideka at Celebration 2 back at the turn of the millennium.
So let’s hear a round of support for a proper OOM-9 or a two-pack with the Geonosis Arena Battle version. Anyone?
(Unending thanks to my friend and cohort Bill Cox from Yakface.com for photographing his Trophy Assortment OOM-9 to at least prove that it exists.)
As a side note, RIP Jerry Finn. You were one of the best in the business, and you will be missed!

I support OOM-9. Not only because I thought it REALLY awesome that some battle droids were not just mindless drones with Commodore 64 programming at best, but there were actually characters among them, too. Like Clone Commanders started getting names in ROTS, too. And he was damned hard to get in my area (i.e. Netherlands). I only found one for a cheap price last year.
I also want to see that scratched Evolutions Obi-Wan Padawan I’ve heard so much about!

Do you mean the "Swamp" Obi-Wan Kenobi (Padawan) from the Trophy Assortment? My prayers are still out there for that one, too. (I just think back to the time when I could have bought them for $25/per on the "grey" market, and I said no because they’d be out in a couple of weeks. Then I kick myself.) Life is, in fact, a pigsty.

Nah, I mean the rumors I’ve read about a supposedly cancelled Evolutions pack containing new sculpts for Obi-Wan in TPM, AOTC and ROTS style. I believe they were supposed to find their way into other assortments eventually. The good guys over at rebelscum even had some pics of the prototypes up for a minute or so before the post vanished. And I’m positive it wasn’t just a figment of my overactive imagination, either!
Also: $25 for those unreleased Trophy Assortments? Gah. You totally should have done it. Alas, Hindsight. 20/20. Etcetera.

…mindless drones with Commodore 64 programming at best…
That’s quite an insult to the Commodore 64 and his big brother 128. Watch your mouth.

Hasbro’s already confirmed the Geonosis Commander in a Q&A for next year.Maybe it’s the Trophy Assortment sculpt.

Sorry… that comment should say "and I hope it’s SA." The SPAM filter is on high for now, so new comments get ‘approved’ and it takes time. So anyway… I don’t recall a confirmed OOM-9 style droid, but I’ll check. (Naturally I want him in both forms, sorry — greedy).

It was confirmed here. It’s under the March 20th Q&As.
