Do Your Best And Don’t Worry

Blogger reader Brian J. sent in this cool link to an NPR story about "rejected" Star Wars merchandising concepts. I would seriously have bought Bantha slippers, the Death Star Grill (and I’m a vegetarian), and the Jabba The Hutt bean bag chair in a heartbeat. What a waste! Check it out here. And gracias to Brian J for letting me know about this, as all things "rejected" or unreleased are my favorite corner of the universe.

Speaking of unreleased, this is a "lite" post today… I’m waiting on permission from The Powers That Be to announce some coolness, but the clock ticks slowly when we’re working on West Coast time. More to come…

Thanks for the mention. You can see the whole range of stuff here (although it’s really just a tiny amount of what we came up with): http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/ottertorials/

Amazingly enough, there is a tiny Galactic Hunter connection here: back when I was running Raving Toy Maniac in the good ol’ 90s, and before I became a Toy Designer, I had the pleasure of hosting Adam Pawlus’ SW Newsletters. I not only miss those great days of collecting, but i really miss the feeling of getting a new e-mail from Adam when his newsletter was the best source for SW news around.

I’m a Pawlus veteran reader, too. His newsletters were the source of info back in the day. I know Gus Lopez has the Jabba bean-bag chair, but I’d have paid top dollar and run people over for it. I just didn’t know it existed. Such a cool piece you guys did. They were all amazing concepts. (Bantha slippers!!!)

It feels like a beautiful reunion on here.  I got in on the tail end of the Pawlus SW Newsletter and have been an appreciative follower ever sense.
In addition to the bean-bag chair and the Bantha slippers, I would have also dug the Cloud City lamp.

The Cloud City lamp does rock. These are all "useful" things that I’d buy. I have an R2-D2 cooler (thank you Sharon) and other odd promo pieces, but my rule is that they MUST be useful.

I would probably have bought most of the things on that slideshow.  I’d wear that Taun Taun suit to work if made in my size.  And don’t get me started on how cool those Galactic Mounted Heads would have been.  Heck, in today’s time they could expand that line for Order 66.

Its good to see that there’s at least one more vegetarian, morrissey loving star wars fan out there.
