Have you seen him go, though?
Shhh… this is a quiet post. I think Pawlus’ Ritalin and Mountain Dew high might be finished now.
Holy crap! If he’s right (and he usually is) my partner will eventually kill me. I warned him about the toys 12 years ago, and I said ‘this won’t end well’ at the time. Now I’m predicting a murder-suicide situation.
If there are (at a minimum) 1,250~ish figures (and I have them all) that’s a scary, scary thought. My partner walks around my various displays chanting "$5, $10, $15, $20…" and so on. Hopefully he won’t find my Stormtrooper stash any time soon.
OK, so, the rule is that I don’t blog on Mondays (because that’s his Q&A day) but that accountant thing scared the bejeebus out of me. It’s no wonder the neighbors are scared of me.
So, assuming you’re a registered reader, and you read this… since it’s here. Sound off a bit about this rumored-but-rapidly-developing BMF Millennium Falcon. What do you think? Are you prepared to roll out $150 – $200 on the BMF? (I am. I am. I admit it. Hasbro owns me.) There’s a difference, though, between a gay man with Peter Pan Syndrome who can afford it and everyone else in the world. So what about you? (First one who says he’s waiting for clearance DIES.) This is a "kiss", marry, or kill situation. This is a way or no-way hypothetical. Clearance doesn’t factor in at all.
Tell us!

No way! I already have three versions of the Falcon; I can’t keep buying the same things. I am also a gay man who can afford things, but I’m running out of space in the toy room. Hearing how many figures are out really starts to make me think…maybe I would be better off if the line ended (I can’t quit, help me!) If this line has several more years left in it, I’m really going to have to rethink my collection habit.

I don’t know if I can spend $200 on a new Falcon. This hobby is getting really expensive……….I will never have room to display all the ships. I just can’t see spending that kind of money on a ship that’s going to rot away in the attic.
But then again, I’m addicted to this collection so I’ll probably buy it the first day I see it……if it’s really good.

Luckily I gave up on ships a while ago…and also thankfully (thanks to Adam May, here) I switched to loose collecting around midway of the POTJ line. (except for Carded Vaders &some Yoda’s).
I stopped my ‘unique’ figure counting and collecting around ROTS. I counted pretty much the same way Pawlus does, anything new and unique is a unique figure. How many variations of Tatooine Luke do I need? How many iterations of Greedo do I need? I can only display so much (right now it’s about none, but a new IKEA opened up near me so I plan to get some shelving units in the near future!
Finally: 2 Questions for Mr. May:
1)How do I edit my log-in name? I typoed my own freakin’ name!
2) I remember back in the good ol’ SWCU days you had posted a link to a place that had clear display steps and other things in clear acrylic or plastic for displays. do you still have the link? I think i may need some clear risers in the near future…

Ah… I still have the link. It’s Jule Art. And they have the coolest display stuff. (I drop at least $1,000 there every year. It’s SICK.)

Oh, and Dan e-mail me at the usual mail, and I’ll fix your log-in name.

OK, Dave, you have to look at it this way. The other three Falcons (if this one happens) are basically offal. You’ll just chuck them to the side of the road, and make way for the behemoth. I’ll keep my Falcon with light-up engines just because I think it’s still cool.
I say never quit. The guys I know who quit (Star Wars or other hobbies) wind up doing really stupid things like adopting kids to fill some weird void. Then they have no time to hang out with losers like me. So, yeah, don’t quit.

I am notoriously cheap and the notion of buying the AT-TE and a new Falcon in one year is way too rich for my blood. I’ve long abandoned hope of collecting one of everything, but I would really like a new Falcon if it’s a new mold and in better scale than the same one we’ve had rehashed since 1978.
There’s also space to consider. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment that is busting at the seams with our various hobbies. I just don’t have the room.
But, if I find it on clearance…
