Did I Miss Something?

This is from Hasbro‘s Toy Fair catalog circa 1995, and, for the life of me, I cannot remember these ever being on store shelves. I’ll have to consult The Oracle (Adam Pawlus) to verify, but can any readers remember this wonderful combination of toys and fire hazard? I love toys that could raise my homeowner’s insurance rates. I remember this toy but not with the Star Wars brand attached to it. I remember there being loads of cars. On a side note… Is Order 66 still active? Note the number on the side of the Scout Walker!

Hrm… that is an odd coincidence. Wipe them out! All of them!

Kevin… I didn’t put two-and-two together there. Seriously, I’d buy these, but who thought of kids and welding as a suitable match? So they’re officially unreleased, and they got pretty far along in development — even offered to retailers. Tragic!

Ok, I don’t know about this one, but can I comment from something on the main page?  Adam Pawles wrote:  "As you all know you need Indiana Jones Galactic Heroes more than you need air or water. Or at least I do."He’s exactly right.  Bring them on.

These were never released, but the line did get at least one licensed item out– a Batman Batmobile for Power Spark came out for Legends of Batman in about 1995, around just before these two were announced.  (Tomart’s also put them in the magazine way back when.)  I never got a chance to play with it as I only saw the Batman thing at BEST stores like once, and I figured I’d get to play around with the concept with Star Wars– which, sadly, never happened.I want to say G.I. Joe Extreme had some prototype Power Spark items get leaked as well but I don’t remember where I saw them.  The early to mid 1990s was an incredible time period for toys that got close to production but never made it to stores due largely to Toys "R" Us’ then-immense buying power crushing concepts that they just didn’t support, and the hat goes to Wal-Mart these days. Finally, search closed auctions on eBay and you can find the Batman one in the box still– it looks neat, and really illustrates just how far packaging design has come in the past 12 years.
