And When The Palmist Said…

Our Galactic Hunter precognition droid, 42N-TLR (not to be confused with Britney’s rehab roomie The Swami) is back with a little dirt culled from the palms of some Hasbro insiders to help nail down some basic figure goodies for 2008. What’s on "the short list", not including major heroes and villains? Let’s plop a few credits in, and see what’s in the cards.

Jawa with WED 15 Droid
Tusken Raider (Jundland Wastes)
Tatooine Creature Pack (Jabba’s Palace)
Oola
Yarna d’al’ Gargan
Wioslea
Tiree (Rebel Y-Wing Pilot)
Hobbie (Rebel Pilot)
Arvel Crynyd (Rebel A-Wing Pilot)
Ak-Rev Weequay Drummer
Sgt. Doallyn
Yoxgit
BG-J38 (see our cool pimp of this figure right here!)
Brainiac
Danz Borin
Kal Fas (Saurin)
Ewok w/ Woklings
Ewok
(2 Pack)

*Note: All of these are very preliminary, and there will be editing before 2008. If you’re lobbying for a certain figure, now’s the time to start talking it up.

On the hero front, our trusty Precognition Droid believes that we will see a cool Funeral Pyre Darth Vader with snap-on flames a la the 30th Anniversary Collection Super Battle Droid. Whether he’s stuck in a Battle Pack or not, that remains to be seen. We might even see several of our heroes as they are prepared for an Ewok BBQ feast. The prequels will mostly be represented by hero figures, but this is stuff that is nearing the finish line for the first couple of waves (and we’re not even allowed to know all the Clone Wars 3D coolness that is in the mix). The prequels seem to get more love after the first two quarters. Yes, fear not, Padmé fans, another version of our second-favorite heroine is in the works for 2008.

Princess Leia (Imperial Captive); Luke Skywalker (Detention Block Rescue); Han Solo (Detention Block Rescue); Chewbacca (Imperial Prisoner) are all "in the mix" along with the usual cadre of Imperials. Is this another Battle Pack, offering value-for-money, or are these basic figures? Unfortunately, the cards don’t reveal everything.

While we’re touching on Battle Packs, the current Wal*Mart exclusive Treachery on Saleucami Battle Pack is opening the door for more single-rider craft in the future. IG Lancer Droids vs. Clone Troopers? Durge vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Clone Gear)? A totally new sculpt Imperial Speederbike with a cool floating-style stand? The jury is still out as Treachery on Saleucami tests the sales waters, but they’re all up for consideration as 2008 will offer more toys (as opposed to figures) in preparation for Clone Wars 3D.

Please deposit more credits for more prognostication.
