Pimp This Figure! BG-J38!
Galactic Blogger reader and figural pimping enthusiast Eric von Gruenigen would like to kindly suggest to Hasbro that they dig through their old molds, give a figure a little mod’n'tweak, and get us a new droid. He rendered a fantastic new look for the POTF2 8D8 body. With the use of a new head, he become BG-J38 who is Jabba The Hutt’s Holochess Droid seen playing at his arcade-style console in the background of Return of the Jedi.
We here at Galactic Blogger (that means me) are into recycling, and we know that Hasbro likes to recycle, too. (Wal*Mart wave anyone?) So Derryl, Dave(s), and Team Star Wars, get this figure into a nice little Battle Pack, or a a really big one.
While we’re kvetching for droids, could we have a torture-in-progress Power Droid from Jabba’s Dungeon? (A screaming sound chip would be over-the-top cool!)

Not a very exciting (or necessary) character, but good idea. It makes as much sense at CZ-3. I never realized these two guys used the same body. Excellent work on the graphics!

Nice! I’d get one. I think at this point, other than clones, obscure characters are the way to go! My nephew who is 5 years old is starting to ask me to buy him all the background characters (of course to him they aren’t "background", they are just totally cool beings that drive his imagination wild and seem pretty much as important as "our heroes"). See, he’s already got a Han, a Luke, two Vaders, Chewbacca, the droids and even a Leia and now he just wants aliens! Gragra tops his list of all things. And most collectors want these too, no? Instead of a repaint or tweaked main character? And I’ve been wanting a CZ-3 since probably the second time I saw Star Wars when I was 7! Now I want 3 or 4 of them!

The graphics applause goes to EricVonG, who has pimped previous figures for the blog (just click on keyword pimps). He did an amazing job with his imagination and a little technology. Now our friends in Rhode Island need to sit down and sculpt the head for him! (Oh, and don’t forget the holochess game!)
I’m a sucker for droids, though. I own a small army of 8D8 for some strange reason. (Must’ve been the KB blowouts of 2000.)

Great ideas and pimps. How about along with those, in the same scene, a pimp on 2-1B to be the tortured droid on the rack in Jabba’s dungeon being ripped appart.
