Drawn to what scares me, and scared of what bores me…
A quick and painless Hunter’s Holy Grail for this unwelcome Monday morning to help ease hangovers and workday anxiety. (Or so we think.)
This invitation was created for the big Licensing Summit of 2003 by Lucasfilm for select licensees, retailers, and muckety-mucks who were shown LFL‘s big plans for the lead-up and rollout for Revenge of the Sith.
Basically, you have a production version of the Saga Darth Vader screwed to a wooden slab with an engraved invitation. Simple, but effective. Only one has ever sold via auction on the Internet(s) that we’re aware of. (Image culled from that very auction, with thanks to whomever sold it for letting us peasants get a glimpse of it.)

Thats a pretty cool piece, but who cares really. Anyone can get a Saga Vader if they want one. Whats the point of having a Vader thats pinned down to a goofy engraved plaque. I collect toys not impossible artifacts that only the wealthy can afford.

That’s kinda why it’s a Holy Grail. It’s uncommon. They’re fun to see, but don’t expect to see me shelling out the big bucks for it.

So…Can you tell which Vader it is?

Well, it’s something new that I never knew existed; which is the point of the Holy Grail I suppose. Not that I really need it for my collection, but I wonder how much it sold for?

Wow…..neat… a figure with a plaque…..
Simple?….. sure looks like it.
Effective?…….. NOT.
I expect to see more of these on Ebay before long.Somebody is going to take the time and money to reproduce this and pass it off as the real deal.

I remember this – anyone recall the price it went for?
Personally, it’s not a big deal…unless you collector "rare" items.

I was very fortunate to be working as a graphic designer at the Kmart Headquarters here in Detroit when these were being handed out. My manager got one but couldn’t attend the meeting, and knowing I was the resident Star Wars geek, gave it to me. It sits proudly on my shelf to this day.
Yes, it’s just saga Vader glued to a polished block with a nifty metal plaque on it, but still, what an invitation! You may see more on ebay someday, but not mine.

Personally I think this is pretty cool. It’s something different and unique. I would have loved to receive this sort of invitation as opposed to a plain old sheet of paper with writing on it. Thanks for the glimpse.
