Today’s Hunter’s Holy Grail ain’t so holy.

What happens when a lame toy meets a lame action figure? Ladies and gentlemen, we proudly present the Naboo Starfighter Handheld Game with Unique Naboo Pilot Action Figure by Tiger/Hasbro.

The "unique" Naboo Pilot action figure wasn’t so unique after all. The plan was to slap some extra paint ops on a Ric Olie action figure from the Episode I line, glue his helmet on, and call it a Naboo Pilot. It wasn’t the worst idea ever, but the Naboo Starfighter Handheld Game didn’t exactly fly off of shelves with its original unique action figure, Anakin Skywalker Pilot, and he was supposed to be the hero of the movie.

This one seems like the best candidate for the recycling bin ever witnessed in the history of Star Wars toys. We normally rattle our sabers and moan a bit about unreleased toys, but who could get excited about this? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Wow, ouch! Yeah I’m with ya on this one! Much as I hated most things about Ep 1 I’m actually a fan of the starfighter design on it’s own (though mine has Padme in Pilot Attire driving…well cause Ep 2 was a bit better than Ep 1 and not even Leia ever drove anything bigger than a speeder bike!) But this looks totally sucky, what the hell is that on top of the fighter??? An exterior cockpit seat??? What the?!? Total piece of poodoo! Did you say this actually did get made? Only they just swapped an Anakin pilot instead of the unforunate Ric Olie with irremovable helmet?

I remember seeing these way back.  I actually thought it a novel concept at the time, but considering how limited Tiger games were and continue to be, glad I didn’t buy it.  Personally, I think the concept has merit, but only if the game itself could be made (cost efficiently) with the graphics level of the Game Boy Color.  Suffice to say, I don’t think this is concept that will be looked at again.

I don’t think I would of purchased it, but its always good to see "diffrent" things on the market…….And this is deffintly one of those "diffrent" things. I can’t say anything else, I own the Anikan pilot one.

I managed to pick up the pilot Anakin from the released version at a yard sale. Not that it was an especially interesting figure. As far as completists go, having to buy a junky game to get a figure is irritating.

While this is a fine example of a lane toy at least you can ditch the game and have the figure….. On the OTHER hand the LAMEST of ALL Hasbro Star Wars offerings has been and forever shall be……
    Drum roll please….ratatattattatattatataatatttatata…….
The oft forgotten, and with good reason, Cuisemissle Trooper!
